Welcome

The puppies have all grown past the blog and onto their own Lilac Hill pages

This hopefully will be the chronicle of the Lilac Hill puppies. Dilly was bred by artificial insemination in 2010 and due to timing etc that breeding didn’t take. We had all these plans to drive to Wyoming and breed her to Ozzie but in true Dilly fashion, she blew the plans right out of the water by coming in heat 3 weeks early. No Easter vacation road trip, no far away suitor, nada.

So where are we going to find a date for her that has both UKC and ADBA papers? Well with a more than accommodating man named Will Green in NY. Action is also predominately Lar-San and pretty closely related to Dilly so this is a line breeding. Will was great about meeting us half way to get the deed done and so we set up a time and date.

Here is Action

For his full name and pedigree, look on the pedigree page ;)

He is a moderate dog who is a tad taller than Dill but not too big which was a worry for me. She is so small I was definitely worried about many of the males being too big for her. He had a nice temperament for a horn dog who was ready the second he got out of the car. Dill was pretty put off with the no candy and flowers courting. action was just like Larry the Cable Guy, Git er done!

Of course me being paranoid almost called the whole thing off when she started getting pissy about him rushing things so back in the crate we threw her and let him court her through there. He kissed her and she didn’t take a lip or his tongue off so it was promising. Keep in mind this was day 12 of her heat so she was starting to flirt back and play bow. Let’s just say we didn’t even get to take them to the bushes for their rendezvous, action didn’t give her a chance to change her mind. What followed was the most stressful 30 minutes EVER.

So it was done and over we left it open for a date on Saturday to do a repeat. It was up to Dilly. We ought to have done one but she had different ideas. The next day Rowdy walked by and simply sniffed her but and she went bananas on him and I had to lock her in the bathroom. Second date? Ummmm she said NO. So we didn’t get to do the second breeding. I don’t think I could have handled her in full bitch mode stuck to another dog for a half hour!

So here we are a week later and she is just about out of heat, a few more days. I will be using the blogging aspect of this to do updates from here on out. I will also take pics throughout. She is starting this a tad pudgy this time, maybe her being lean last time was a part of what made her not take. Don’t know but here goes nothing, right?

Keep in mind I don’t mind having readers but too much negativity will cause this site to be set to private and only the puppy homes and Will are going to be able to access it. comments are welcome but unless they are serious or polite they won’t be posted!
